Ziwa Rhino Sanctuary – Uganda`s Only Wild Rhinos
At Ziwa Rhino Sanctuary, the only place in Uganda where you can see wild white rhinos, you’ll track these impressive animals on foot with a ranger. Most active during the early morning and evening, these members of the “Big Five” are part of a reintroduction project and will eventually be released into national parks.
Murchison Falls National Park – Uganda’s Largest and Most Popular Park
Explore open grasslands and savannahs on a game drive where lions, leopards, elephants, giraffes, antelopes and African buffalo roam. Home to 76 species of mammals and over 450 bird species—including Uganda’s national bird, the grey crowned crane—Murchison Falls NP offers a true safari experience. A boat safari along the world’s longest river, the Nile, provides close-up views of hippos, crocodiles and water birds. Don’t miss the thunderous Murchison Falls—Africa’s most powerful waterfall—either from the boat or via a scenic hike.
Queen Elizabeth National Park – Big 4
Queen Elizabeth NP is known for its rich diversity of landscapes—from open savannahs to crater lakes and tropical rainforests. Game drives offer sightings of four of the Big 5. A boat safari on the Kazinga Channel lets you spot elephants, hippos, buffaloes and a variety of bird species up close. In the southern part of the park, keep an eye out for the famous tree-climbing lions—believed to seek cooler spots up in the trees.
Lake Mburo National Park – Small but scenic.
This compact park in southwestern Uganda is home to giraffes, zebras, leopards, hyenas and various antelope species. Explore the park on a walking safari with a ranger to learn about its unique ecosystem. Night game drives and boat safaris on Lake Mburo are also available.
