Bwindi Impenetrable National Park – Home of the Last Mountain Gorillas
A visit to see the critically endangered mountain gorillas is one of the most impressive wildlife experiences Africa has to offer. You will get incredibly close to these gentle giants with the guidance of a ranger. In the tri-border area of Uganda, Rwanda and the DRC, live the last remaining mountain gorillas, with half residing in Bwindi NP. This UNESCO World Heritage site (since 1994) is also home to 120 mammal species, making it one of the most biodiverse areas in Uganda.Kibale Forest National Park – Capital of Chimpanzees.
Kibale Forest NP hosts the largest population of chimpanzees in the country, with around 1.450 individuals. With the highest primate diversity in Uganda—twelve other primate species—you’ll have excellent opportunities to see chimpanzees up close as they have been habituated by researchers. The park is also home to almost 400 bird species and other mammals like leopards, lions, forest elephants and antelopes.
Mgahinga National Park – Gold Meets Silver
Uganda’s smallest national park, located on the border with Rwanda and the DRC, provides a safe haven for endangered mountain gorillas. It is the only park in Uganda where silver (mountain gorillas) meet gold (golden monkeys). An additional attraction is Lake Mutanda, where you can canoe or interact with the Batwa pygmies.
